the culture shape our desire

if the desire is shaped by our culture, and the criticism is adviced by the same. Isn't it contradict to convict people of desire? culture makes us aspire after money, power, sex... but all of these are evil... how could this happen? can i just finding love, happyness, peace for whole day? they will say i'm a lazy man, and threaten that i'll not able to feed myself up
